In New South Wales, Languages curriculum comprises 76 Board Developed courses in 35 languages.
The Languages Unit within the Department Curriculum K-12 Directorate provides generic and language-specific curriculum-based support for
teachers of all languages in NSW schools, including community languages, languages for second language learners and Aboriginal languages.
The Saturday School of Community Languages offers students in Years 7-12 the opportunity to study their background language when it is not available in their day school. The NSW Community Languages Program supports schools established by communities outside regular school hours to provide languages learning for young people aged between two and eighteen.
The Open High School offers languages study through distance education to students in Years 9-12 in both government and non-government schools. The Centre for Learning Innovation (CLI) provides services and products, across the range of languages, that are flexible and adaptable to the needs of students and teachers.
