K-10 Assessment Moderation Workshop
July 22 @ 9:00 am - 1:30 pm
Many of you would be familiar with the Assessment Resource Centre (https://arc.nesa.nsw.edu.au/) which provides guidance and work samples for teachers to inform the grading of their students’ work in NSW.
The MLTA NSW has organised a half-day workshop on Saturday July 22 with the participation of Lyn Sully, the NESA Languages Inspector, for teachers to maintain and strengthen our common professional understanding of the A to E grading scale used in NSW.
Participating teachers are expected to come to the workshop with several student samples of work (from assessment tasks in any or several of the four skills) for moderation using the Common Grade Scale and Performance Descriptors available on the ARC site. Teachers will be grouped according to the (main) language they teach.
The idea is that the moderated work samples will be shared with members through the Association’s website as well as offered to NESA for publication on the ARC website. Appropriate permission for publication from parents/carers might thus be necessary at a later stage.
Primary and secondary languages teachers are encouraged to participate.
It is expected this program will be 3.5 hours NESA accredited for standards 5.3 and 6.3.
