NATIONAL STATEMENT FOR LANGUAGES EDUCATION IN AUSTRALIAN SCHOOLS

This document was recently released by the Ministerial Council of Education, Employment, Training & Youth Affairs (MCEETYA) following its endorsement by all Ministers of Education. It has been developed by a MCEETYA Working Party with input from education systems in each State and Territory, National Catholic Education Commission, Independent Schools Council and other entities.

The process of discussion included national round table forums held in 2003 and early 2004; and the documents were widely circulated as discussion drafts in early 2004 to invite extensive community discussion and input.

National Plan for Languages Education in Australian Schools 2005 - 2008 has now been distributed to all education authorities.

The Document can be downloaded here as a PDF file. The MCEETYA website has further information.
