My Story

Georgina Doukas has been an active member of MLTANSW since 2009 holding the position of Treasurer for over 10 years. She is currently the Convenor of MLTANSW Awards and Scholarships, overseeing the Outstanding Teacher Awards, Denise Soos Scholarships and Scholarships for AFMLTA Conferences and other interstate and overseas initiatives.

 

Georgina was awarded the Professional Teachers’ Council Outstanding Professional Service Award (2014) and the NESA Outstanding Teachers Medal in recognition of 40 years of contribution to Languages and Language Teachers in NSW. Georgina has over 35 years experience in teaching Modern Greek, French, Italian and English as well as leading Languages Faculties.

 

Georgina has also strongly supported and collaborated with many MLTANSW initiatives such as COVID 19 Scholarships (2020) as well as Mentor teacher support projects and has always strongly supported funding for teachers to participate in local, interstate and international Languages initiatives. She has contributed a number of articles over the years to MLTANSW Accents editorial.

 

Georgina has led and contributed to a number of successful MLTANSW conferences and workshops and was an Executive Committee member when MLTANSW hosted the AFMLTA Conference in Sydney in 2009. She has represented MLTANSW at a number of AFMLTA Conferences. Georgina has generously donated many hours and expertise to present both face to face and online workshops/ keynote presentations/TeachMeets for MLTANSW, AFMLTA, the Department of Education, Sydney Catholic Schools and the Association of Independent Schools.
