Becoming an EPI Teacher: Dr Conti's Extensive Processing Instruction

A deep dive into Dr Conti's Extensive Processing Instruction. 

 

This course will provide participants with thorough evidence-informed training in the design and implementation of Extensive Processing Instruction and of the MARS EARS framework for the teaching of languages.

 

Tuesday August 10, 4.30pm to 7pm (2 hours session followed by time for questions).

Tuesday August 17, 4.30pm to 7pm (2 hours session followed by time for questions).

Tuesday August 24, 4.30pm to 7pm (2 hours session followed by time for questions).

 

Session 1 will focus on the design of an EPI unit, the selection of content, the sequencing of modelling and receptive (Listening as Modelling and Reading as Modelling) activities as well as with priming methods and techniques. There will be an opportunity to ask questions at the end of the presentation. 

 

Session 2 and 3 will focus on structured production, effective grammar teaching and fluency building tasks. There will be an opportunity to ask questions at the end of the presentation. 

 

The pedagogical rationale for each activity and tasks sequence will be provided throughout the course.
